Family Search: When Private Burton Hawley was born on 3 August 1899, in Harwich, Kent, Ontario, Canada, his father, Gilbert Henry Hawley, was 28 and his mother, Mary Edna Loop, was 21. He married Mildred Shreve on 21 January 1928, in Chautauqua, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 daughters. He lived in Uniontown, Fayette, Pennsylvania, United States in 1930 and Erieau, Kent, Ontario, Canada in 1931. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1931, at the age of 32, his occupation is listed as carpenter. He died on 29 December 1956, at the age of 57, and was buried in Blenheim, Chatham-Kent, Ontario, Canada.
