He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, United Kingdom in 1901 and Chatham, Kent, Ontario, Canada for about 8 years. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 24, his occupation is listed as machinist. He died on 16 April 1944, in Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 51, and was buried in Woodstock Presbyterian Cemetery, Woodstock, Oxford, Ontario, Canada.
