This man first enlisted under the name of Howard James Moyer at Simcoe, Ontario on 17 March 1916 and was declared a deserter on 4 July 1916.

However,

He reported for military service under the MSA (1917) at London, Ontario on 8 January 1918 under the name of George Howard James.

He was a farmer living at Sandwich, Ontario and was of the Anglican faith.

He arrived in England on 4 March 1918 aboard the SS Cretic and was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion the next day at Bramshott Camp. He was transferred for active combat duty on 18 August 1918 and arrived “in the field” on 28 August 1918.

Private Howard served the rest of the war with the 18th Battalion and was demobilized at London, Ontario on 24 May 1919.

He was living at Tillsonburg, Ontario from 1919 to 1926 when all record of him disappears.
