At the time of attestation he was a hotel porter following the Anglican faith.
He arrived in Liverpool, England on 18 August 1916 and was transferred “overseas” on 10 October 1916. He was initially assigned to the 2nd Canadian Entrenching Battalion (5 November 1916) and then attached to No. 5 Field Company, Canadian Engineers on 13 November 1916.
He was returned to the 2nd Canadian Entrenching Battalion on 26 November 1916 and then was attached for duty with Headquarters, 2nd Canadian Division.
He arrived at the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 18 March 1917.
He was granted 14 day’s leave to the United Kingdom on 21 December 1918 and returned from leave on 10 January 1919.
He is discharged at London, Ontario on 24 May 1919 due to demobilization.
