Family Search: Private Raymond Atkinson Lockwood was born on 23 March 1894, in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio, United States as the son of Frank Lockwood and Lockwood. He married Dorothy Belterridge on 24 May 1919, in Brampton, Peel, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 daughters. He lived in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 191. In 1931, at the age of 37, his occupation is listed as soda dispenser in Toronto, York, Ontario, Canada. He died on 29 November 1969, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 75, and was buried in Pine Hills Cemetery, Scarborough, Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 126th (Peel) Overseas Battalion at Brampton, Ontario on 7 December 1915. He was a box maker by trade and had no prior military experience.

He embarked at Halifax, Nova Scotia, for England on 14 August 1916, arriving at Liverpool on the 24th aboard the SS Empress of Britain.

He was transferred to the 116th on 15 October 1916 and was moved to Bramshott Camp. He was then transferred to the 18th Battalion and arrived at the Canadian Base Depot, Harve on 29 November 1916, and arrived “in the field” with the 18th Battalion on 3 December 1916.

He received a GSW to the right leg on 5 August 1917 and received treatment at No. 5 Canadian Field Ambulance, returning for duty on two days later.

He was listed as “Missing” on 12 November 1917.

It was later reported through the Red Cross that he was a Prisoner of War in Germany at a camp at Limburg.

He was repatriated to England on 27 December 1919 and embarked at Liverpool for Canada aboard the HMT Scotian on 25 March 1919.

He was discharged due to demobilization on 6 April 1919, at Toronto, Ontario.
