Family Search: Private Joseph Murray was born on 7 January 1889, in Belfast, Ireland as the son of William Murray and Elizabeth Crosley. He married Alice Liscombe on 30 July 1927, in London, Ontario, Canada. He immigrated to Canada in 1913. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 26, his occupation is listed as labourer. He died on 18 May 1937, in London, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 48, and was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, West McGillivray, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada.

This man enlisted with the 33rd Battalion on 5 May 1915 at London, Ontario.

He arrived in England on 6 April 1916 and was transferred for active combat duty on 18 May 1916 and arrived “in the field” on 7 June 1916.

He served with the 18th Battalion and was reported missing on 8 August 1918 and was found wounded with a GSW to the left and right hip.

He was treated in France and returned to duty with the 18th Battalion on 14 October 1918.

He served the rest of the war with the 18th and was discharged due to demobilization on 24 May 1919 at London, Ontario.

He married Alice Liscombe, 20 years his senior, at London, Ontario on 30 July 1927.

He died due to cancer on 18 May 1937 at Victoria Hospital, London, Ontario.
