NEW SMYRNA BEACH — Vernell Bruce Newhouse, 67, died at 4:40 this morning at his home, 110 Sanchez Ave, Edgewater.

Mr. Newhouse was born in Donaldson, Mich., and moved to Edgewater eight and one half months ago from Ferndale, Mich

He was a retired Fisher Body Co. employee in the Research and Planning Dept. in Detroit.

He served in the Canadian army in World War I and was decorated for valor in combat by King George VI at Windsor Castle. He was a member of the Berkley Community Church, Berkley, Mich., and the IOOF Lodge in St. Catherine’s, Canada.

Survivors include his wife, Elvira, Edgewater; three brothers, William, Everett and Claire, all of Canada; two sisters, Mrs. Lynn Brush and Mrs. Noel Stone, both of Canada.

Service will be at 4 this afternoon in Dudley Funeral Home with Rev. R. L. Alexander, pastor of Edgewater Community Church, officiating. The body will be sent to Berkley.
