He died on 7 August 1917, in Trafalgar, Halton, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 28, and was buried in Oakville, Halton, Ontario, Canada.
May have committed suicide. Cause of death appears to be “tasting” or “taking” hydrochloric acid according to the death certificate.
