Family Search: When Private George Phillips was born on 22 June 1881, in Westminster, London, England, United Kingdom, his father, Richard Phillips, was 34 and his mother, Elizabeth Ravilious, was 42. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Tiverton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada in 1916 and Kincardine, Bruce, Ontario, Canada in 1921. He registered for military service in 1916. In 1916, at the age of 35, his occupation is listed as farm labourer in Tiverton, Bruce, Ontario, Canada. He died on 21 November 1955, at the age of 74, and was buried in Woodland Cemetery, London, Ontario, Canada.

He was a Farm Labourer following the Anglican faith and lived at Tiverton, Ontario at the time of his enlistment.
He arrived in England on 28 October 1916.
On 24 February he was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reservice Battalion and then was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 28 March 1918 and joined that unit “in the field” on 11 June 1918.
He had been awarded a Good Conduct Badge on 8 February 1918 at Witley Camp.
On 21 December 1918 he was attached to Headquarters YMCA and the returned to the 18th Battalion sometime later.
He served the rest of the war with the 18th and was discharged due to demobilization on 24 May 1919 at London, Ontario.
