He arrived in England aboard the SS Grampian on 29 April 1915.
He went “overseas” with the 2nd Contingent in 15 September 1915 with the 18th Battalion and on 27 September 1915 he was attached to the 2nd Canadian Division Salvage Company.
He served with this Company until 30 June 1917 when he was transferred to the 2nd Canadian Divisional Employment Company and was struck off strength from the 18th Battalion.
He served with this until taken on strength with the 18th Battalion on 7 February 1919 and was granted 14-days leave in the United kingdom on 2 March 1919.
He rejoined the 18th Battalion and boarded the SS Caronia 15 May 1919 and was demobilization on 24 May 1919 at London, Ontario.

Frank Pipe
Frank Pipe, 69, of 1970 Vimy Ave., died today at his residence after a short illness.
He was born in Bournemouth, England, and had lived in Windsor for 40 years. He was a member of the 18th Battalion during World War I. He was employed at Ford of Canada as a maintenance superintendent before his retirement in 1957.
In addition to his widow, Olive, he is survived by one son, Mervin, Riverside; two daughters, Mrs. Albert (Doris) Landry, of Galt, and Mrs. Murray K. (Barbara) McCallum, of Burlington; one brother, William; one sister, Mrs. Arthur Gold, both of Bournemouth.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Walter D. Kelly Funeral Home, 1989 Wyandotte St. E. Rev. S. R. Henderson officiating. Graveside service will be held in Tillsonburg at 1 p.m. E.S.T. on Friday.
