This man enlisted with the 162nd Battalion on 19 January 1916 at Burk’s Falls. He gave his date of birth as 16 June 1893 but records show he was born in 1896.
He was a “Beamer” following the Roman Catholic faith.
He arrived in England on 11 November 1916 at Liverpool.
Assigned to the 35th Battalion on 5 December 1916 at West Sandling Camp. with the expectation of serving overseas, he was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 9 May 1917 and proceeded to the Continent for active combat service.
He arrived “in the field” on 12 June 1917.
He suffered the effects of gassing from German shelling and was sent for medical care on 9 November 1917 and was treated on the Continent and then in England.
His treatment complete, he returned to duty arriving with the 18th Battalion on 7 October 1918.
He served the rest of the war with the 18th Battalion.
He was discharged due to demobilization on 28 March 1919 at London, Ontario.
