He married Leila Magdaline Stewart on 29 August 1925, in Seaforth, Huron, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He lived in Ontario, Canada in 1889 and Perth, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1918. In 1931, at the age of 42, his occupation is listed as machinist. He died in November 1959, at the age of 69, and was buried in Avondale Cemetery, Stratford, Perth, Ontario, Canada.

He was a machinist living at Stratford, Ontario and was of the Presbyterian faith.
He arrived in England on 16 February 1918 aboard the SS Grampian and was transferred to the 4th Canadian Reserve Battalion the next day at Bramshott Camp. He was transferred for active combat duty on 10 May 1918 and arrived “in the field” on 5 June 1918.
Private Johnson served the rest of the war with the 18th Battalion and was demobilized at London, Ontario on 24 May 1919.
