MILITARY MEDAL.
For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in front of PASSCHENDAELE on Nov. 9th 1917. After his platoon Sgt. became a casualty he took over his duties and by his courage and untiring energy rendered valuable services in maintaining a position which was under constant heavy shell fire. He was particularly energetic in seeing that any wounded men were dressed and carried out. Although he was twice buried by shells he continued his work until relieved.
