He arrived in England on 6 February 1918 aboard the SS (HMT) Scotian.
Assigned to the 4th Reserve Battalion on 6 February at Bramshott Camp. He was transferred to the 18th Battalion on 18 August 1918.
He arrived “in the field” on 31 August 1918.
He suffered from gas poisoning on 19 August 1918 and was treated for gas until 13 October 1918 and then transferred back to the 18th Battalion effective 14 October 1918.
He was convicted of severe insolence to an NCO and a sentence of 28 days Field Punishment No. 1 was assigned to this soldier on 26 October 1918.
He served the rest of the war with the 18th Battalion and he was discharged due to demobilization on 28 March 1919 at London, Ontario.

Teachout, George W. – 2314 Windemere Ave., age 82, died Sunday, August 10, 1980 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, at the Brown Funeral Home, 1616 Davison Rd., Rev. Melvin M. Brewer Jr. officiating. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Gardens. Friends desiring may make contributions to the Gideons. Mr. Teachout was born in Flint, February 22, 1898 and had been a resident of Flint all of his life. He was united in Marriage to Ethel Bradford, April 27, 1965. He attended Riverside Tabernacle. He was a veteran of World War I serving in the Canadian Army. He was employed by Chevrolet Manufacturing Division for 37 years, retiring in 1964. Surviving are wife, Ethel E.; daughter, Mrs. Phyllis Nichols of Flint, 2 step-sons and wives, Norman W. and Elaine Bradford of Burton and Jerry and Lessie Bradford of Davison; step-daughter and husband, Doris and Wilbur Wager of Flint; 8 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
