This man enlisted with the 182nd Overseas Battalion at Port Perry, Ontario on 15 April 1916. He was an electrician by trade and had 3 years with the Shropshire Light Infantry.
He embarked at Halifax on 23 July 1916, and arrive at Liverpool on 31 July 1916.
He was transferred to the 116th Battalion on 5 October 1916 and was then transferred the same day for service with the 18th Battalion. He arrived at the Canadian Base Depot at Harve, France on the next day and joined the 18th Battalion “in the field” on 22 October 1916.
On 16 April 1917 he was suffering from Trench Foot and was sent to No. 2 Australian Hospital for treatment and he was then transported to England on 19 April 1917 aboard the H.S.S.T. Denis.
He recuperated in England after treatment and was returned to the 18th Battalion on 11 December 1917.
Private Tinsley served with the 18th until wounded in 8 August 1918 with a GSW to the right leg. He was admitted to No. 3 Australian General Hospital and was transferred to No. 11 Hospital Train being transported to embark aboard the A.T. Princess Elizabeth on the same day.
he was treated in England and invalided to Canada 23 May 1919.
He was discharged due to demobilization on 12 July 1919 at Toronto.
