Family Search: Private William James Tomkins was born on 8 June 1893, in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, United Kingdom as the son of Charles Tomkins. He immigrated to Canada in 1913. He registered for military service in 1915. In 1915, at the age of 22, his occupation is listed as farmer. He died on 17 May 1957, at the age of 63.
