Family Search: Private Sam Sargant was born on 1 January 1884, in London, England, United Kingdom as the son of Sargeant and Elizabeth. He had at least 1 son with Jenny Fitzpatrick. He immigrated to Canada in 1913 and lived in Chessington, London, England, United Kingdom in 1926. He registered for military service in 1914. In 1914, at the age of 30, his occupation is listed as labourer.

Private Sam Sargant/Sargent

This man enlisted on 11 December 1914, at London, Ontario. He was a labourer with no prior military experience.

He, along with the rest of the 18th Battalion, arrived at Avonmouth on 28 April 1915, and began their training at West Sandling Camp.

He went “overseas” with the 18th Battalion on 15 September 1915 and was wounded less than a month later with a GSW to the left arm.

Recovering from his wounds he was transferred to the 48th Battalion at Risboro and suffered from a series of illnesses until rhe eturned to the 18th Battalion on 10 September 1918.

He was given a 14-day leave starting on 16 November 1918.

He received permission to marry on 28 November 1918 and served with the CEF until discharged in the United Kingdom.

He was discharged on 2 July 1919 and remained in the United Kingdom.
