New Research Sources from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission

Please see full article here.

The Regimental Rouge web site (one of the best sources for tips and ideas for research) has a comprehensive article about some of the changes to the CWGC site in regards to research resources.

It is important to note the following disclaimer from the CWGC:

CWGC Disclaimer

This collection of documents relating to the First World War was assembled by theCommonwealth War Graves Commission and its predecessors as part of the processes involved in the commemoration of individuals. As a result, they contain many corrections and alterations which reflect their use as working documents. For further information concerning the history of the collection, please see the About Our Records page.

Please be advised that some of the documents, especially the burial returns and exhumation reports, may contain information which some people may find distressing. The original archive records and their digital copies remain the property of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, but are available for re-use for private and non-commercial purposes.

It goes without saying that the burial returns and exhumation reports would be sources of distressing information, and to date, the research related to this blog has not found this type of information.

The post gives a good overview of the different documents available at the CWGC web site and is recommended.
