Lamb, Thomas Charles — Major. Born 20th October, 1894,
at Falkirk, Scotland. Father, Alfred S. Lamb, Missionary
(retired). Educated at Partick High School and Raleigh College,
Dulwich. Entered the service of the Bank, 23rd February, 1914.
Enlisted, 28th October, 1914, from Walkerville branch, in 18th
Canadian Battalion, with the rank of Lieutenant. Transferred
to Canadian Army Pay Corps, 8th June, 1915, on being appointed
Paymaster, 18th Battalion. Promoted Captain, 8th June, 1915;
Major, 7th May, 1918. Service and principal actions: Acting
Adjutant at St. Eloi Crater Attack, April, 1916; Ypres (Sanctuary
Wood), June, 1916; employed in various administrative capacities
in the Canadian Army Pay Corps in England.

  2. Thomas Charles Lamb was my grandfather, and Harry Alvin Lamb was my uncle who I never met. However, my wife and I did visit Harry’s grave in the Commonwealth War Cemetery in Cassino, Italy in 2019. Quite moving. We also visited the Polish and German war cemeteries there, and went up to the (rebuilt) Abbey.
