Of particular interest will be 18th Battalion snipers Crookshanks and Siddle. First, these are the first identified snipers in the Battalion that I have found. There is an interesting resource written by, possibly, the father of sniping for Imperial and Dominion forces found at this link in PDF that will give you a good background into the training and philosophy of this relatively new specialization. by Major H. Hesketh-Prichard D.S.O., M.C. was a very enthusiastic and proponent of sniping and its importance in a war environment.
